Bangalore September 28: A 32-year old woman conceived and
delivered a healthy baby recently after undergoing laparoscopic
surgery for the removal of 1.8 kgs Fibroid at Beams Hospital in
Koramangala, Bangalore.
The 32-year old software engineer,
married for three years, was unable to conceive for which she came
to Beams Hospital. She was experiencing heaviness in the lower
abdomen. On investigation she was found to have large fibroids in
the uterus. She underwent laparoscopic removal of fibroids and was
back to work in a week’s time.
The team of doctors led by Dr. Shanthala
at Beams hospitals performed laparoscopic removal of fibroid (Myomectomy)
on 22 July 2011. The procedure was done laparoscopically with four
small holes enabling the removal of 1.8 kg of uterine fibroid. She
recovered soon after and was given two units of blood. she was back
to her routine activities very early.
She conceived in December 2011 and was
being regularly followed up at the Hospital. She was admitted for a
planned caesarean section on 20 September, 2012 and delivered a
healthy female child of 2.7 kg and both mother and child are
healthy.
